HVAC (Heating, Ventilation And Air Conditioning)

Definitation of HVAC System

HVAC stand for Heating Ventilation and air conditioning. The purpose of HVAC system is to Maintain Areas Air flow, Temperature, Humidity and pressure.

Almost all Sectors Like IT sector, Manufacturing Plant, R & D labs, Pharmaceutical Sectors, HVAC  System is necessary. All Manufactured Medicines must be store in specific temperature and humidity range. This range is specified in Medicine box or discription. All Most all IT hardware comes with environmental requirements that include acceptable temperature and humidity ranges and this range is mentioned in product discriotion.

HVAC System is divide in two system

a). Comfort Zone system.

b). Pharmaceutical zone system.

COMFORT Zone HVAC system need only temperature and comfort humidity but in Pharmaceutical zone specific temperature, humidity and pressure must be maintain.

Component of HVAC System ?

Components of HVAC
1) indoor
a) AHU air handling unit

2) outdoor unit
a) Condensing unit(Outdoor)

Indoor Unit:-
In the HVAC system, Ahu is known as an indoor unit.

hvac ahu, hvac route
ahu

Ahu stands for an air handling unit.
The main function of ahu is to circulate treated air by supply an air duct to the area and bringing back heated air to the Ahu by return duct. Inside the ahu air goes beyond different air treatment processes, Air from Ahu is pushed to a different area through a supply air duct and sucked back to the ahu by a return duct.

When air leaves from Ahu and enters the room by diffuser or HEPA filter, absorbs the heat of different machines human body or light, or heat generation sources and then` returns through the return duct,

When air enters into the Ahu, some fresh air also enters into the mixing chamber, here fresh air and Return air mix, thus this chamber is known as the mixing chamber.

After this mixed air passes through a pre-filter known as the pre-filtration process,

Then this filtered air passes through the Cooling coil, known as pre-cooling after this air passed through the post-cooling coil, this air passed through UV light and the heater chamber, in this chamber humidity is removed from the air to maintain room humidity and temperature.

What is AHU?

2). Outdoor unit (Condensing unit,)

Condensing units work on the RAC cycle.

hvac outdoor

Condensing unit is used to remove heat from the air through the evaporator or condensing coil in AHU. The condensing unit cools the air with the help of refrigerant.

Necessary Parts of condensing unit or Outdoor
a) Compressor
b) Evaporator
c) Condenser
d) Expansion valve
e) Drier

Compressor:
The compressor is a device that is used o increase the pressure of a refrigerant by reducing volume.
The compressor is used in various fields, most of which are used to increase the pressure of a gas.
In the HVAC field compressor is used to increase the pressure of refrigerant by reducing its volume.

When refrigerant is compressed heat is ejected and passed to the condenser,

Condensing coil:-
It is equipment or a bunch of copper coils in which refrigerant is passed.
Condenser coil, made of the Copper coil and Aluminum fins,
The copper coil helps to circulate refrigerant and the Aluminum fins help to absorb heat from the refrigerant. And release heat to the air.

The refrigerant circulates through the condenser coil.
That ejected heat is transferred to the condenser fins after that heat is absorbed by the air.
when air passes through fins, heat absorb by air and mixed with the surrounding air,

Drier
Drier is a part of the RAC cycle.
The main function of a drier is to move moisture from the refrigerant.

Expansion valve
The expansion valve is a device, which is used in the RAC cycle to reduce the pressure of refrigerant gas.

Evaporator or Dx cooling coil
This is a part of the RAC cycle.
An evaporator is also a group of the copper coil and aluminum fins.
Aluminum fins help to absorb heat from passing air, that absorbs heat is again absorbed by the refrigerant.
